Posting guidelines

1. Keep it anonymous

Share your own experience. This is not the place for gossip, revenge, or public shaming.

Avoid details that could identify you or anyone else, even if the details seem obvious only to people who know the situation.

2. Language and length

• Language: English only. Submissions must be written in English so they can be read across the campus community. Short cultural phrases or untranslatable idioms are welcome, but the main text must be in English.
• Length: Aim for 300 words or fewer. This is an editorial target, not a hard word limit. The system hard limit is 3,000 characters.

3. Prohibited content

Submissions that contain any of the following may be rejected:

• Personal information, private details, or intimate images shared without the person’s consent
• Sexual content involving minors
• Impersonation, advertising, spam, or malicious links
• Unverified accusations, rumors, or public shaming aimed at an individual
• Threats, harassment, hate speech, targeted attacks, or doxxing
• Specific self-harm or crisis methods, plans, encouragement, or instructions
• Illegal content or dangerous instructions
• Copyrighted or confidential material that you do not own or have permission to share

4. Editorial review and permission

We review every submission before it goes up.

• We may lightly edit submissions to correct typos, trim length, or remove accidental identifiers. Routine edits should not remove more than 10% of the original non-whitespace characters or change the meaning.
• We may reject or remove submissions at our discretion.
• Posts do not have comments or public replies.
• By sending a submission, you confirm that you own it or have permission to share it. You give Unsaid at UW non-exclusive permission to lightly edit and publish it anonymously, while you keep ownership of your work.

5. Privacy and contact

The administrator can see the email address you send from. We do not publish it or write it to the posts database. Avoid details that could identify you or someone else.

We do not send approval notifications. Approved submissions may be published anonymously without an email. If your submission is not accepted, we will send a brief email. Review times vary depending on submission volume and the nature of the review. Please do not resend the same submission while it is under review.
